A show stopping, custom booth wins best-in-show

Designed from the ground up

As Samsara grew and started participating in bigger trade shows, it became clear that standard popup booths weren’t going to cut it. At the time, our small but mighty design team of two had never designed a completely custom 20x20 ft booth, but we were eager to jump on the opportunity and create something truly unique.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted something that would stop people in their tracks — but we also had a budget to work with. Playing with light and scale I had a vision of a soaring structure that used a grid of lights to display different patterns, evoking a sense of data being organized.

From good to great

At some point during the project it seemed like a real possibility that we wouldn’t be able to find a manufacturer within budget. As a backup plan we mocked up alternate designs that didn’t have a light grid. Although, still visually pleasing it didn’t quite have the impact that I wanted. Pushing our team to keep looking for new vendors, we eventually found The Trade Group in Dallas, Texas — who shared our enthusiasm for the design. The first time we saw the lights in action we knew the hard work was worth it.

The booth went on to win a Best-in-show award the first time it was exhibited.
